SUMMARY
The Accountant II - Tax and Technical Accounting requires an accounting degree and background with over 3 years of experience in general accounting. The Accountant II will assist the Tax & Technical Acounting Manager with tax accounting, including New Markets Tax Credit, payroll tax, property tax, and GAAP accounting, including leases and escheatment. The Accountant II will also prepare journal entries and tax returns as needed and will also have a good understanding of AP, Purchasing, Budgeting, and Payroll. The Accountant II will also perform ad-hoc tasks as assigned and also ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance with the Health System, GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists with tax accounting and GAAP accounting
- Researches accounting issues/updates and provides timely responses
- Accurately and timely prepares tax returns and journal entries
- Performs ad-hoc tasks as assigned and being flexible to team needs
- Prepares analytical reports and reconciliations as needed for internal and auditing purposes
- Demonstrates accountability and commitment to team goals
- Speaks, communicates, and writes clearly
- Responds to customer related requests in a proactive manner while displaying a sense of urgency
- Able to multi-task and work within strict deadlines
- Provides continuous performance and process improvement in all assigned areas
- Consistently delivers a high level of customer service in all areas
QUALIFICATIONS- BA- Accounting Major
- 3+ years of related job experience
- Healthcare experience preferred
- Must be proficient in the use of Excel, Access, and Word
- PeopleSoft experience preferred
