SUMMARY:
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) plays a critical role in the management of acutely and chronically ill patients in the ICU. This role involves conducting comprehensive assessments, making diagnoses, and ordering, interpreting, and supervising diagnostic tests and laboratory work. The APP also prescribes both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments, promoting health and preventing illness and injury. Practicing both autonomously and in collaboration with other healthcare professionals, the APP is dedicated to holistically managing complex patient care needs. Responsibilities include direct patient and family care, consultations, advocacy, and research. As a key member of the ICU team, the APP manages a caseload of critically ill patients under the supervision of an ICU physician.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in Nursing (Advanced Practice Nurse) or Master’s Degree as a Physician Assistant by the National Board of Medical Examiners or Academy of Physician’s Assistants required
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a critical care nurse or Physician Assistant
- Current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse required for NPs
- Georgia Authorization/Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse required for NPs
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant specializing in critical care services (in-patient setting)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardio Life Support (ACLS) certifications required
