SUMMARY:   
 

APP Manager will have direct oversight and be responsible for all administrative duties of assigned APP team. They will also practice in the unit as an APP.

and prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments in the direct management of acute and chronic illness in care of the critically ill patient.
Promotes health and the prevention of illness and injury. Practices autonomously and in collaboration with other health care professionals to treat and manage patient health problems.
The role of the Lead APP includes direct patient/family care, consultation, research, patient/families/ group/community advocacy to holistically care for complex patient care needs.
Serves as a member of the critical care and/or acute care team with the primary responsibility of managing a caseload of critical care and/or acute care patients under the supervision of a physician. In addition to providing care outlined, the Lead APP will have direct oversight for assigned APP team.
- Independently, and in collaboration with medical staff and other healthcare professionals, diagnoses, treats and manages acute and chronic illness and promotes the patient's health and well-being, and the prevention of illness and injury
- Serves as a leader and role model for the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others
- Provides consultation  to staff nurses, medical staff, and interdisciplinary colleagues, utilizing advanced clinical expertise, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to influence the plan of care for patients/families, optimizes clinical outcomes, enhances the abilities of others, and effects change in the Grady Healthcare System
- Conducts necessary emergent and complex procedures in a critical care and/or acute care surgical environment
- Orders, schedules, and interprets laboratory, radiologic, cardiographic, and other diagnostic results used to identify pathophysiologic processes
- Direct oversight for APP team well-being & call schedule with the ability to cover all roles within the team, which may include rotating shifts
- Conducts rounds, implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and provides continuity of care  
- Provides direct patient care services in assigned setting and assists in emergent rapid response needs & code calls
- Assists supervising physicians in institutional setting, including review of treatment plans, differential diagnoses, ordering tests and diagnostic laboratory/radiologic services, & bedside procedures
- Participates in continuous performance improvement activities and develops criteria for and evaluates the quality of care and effectiveness
- Provides patient and family education regarding disease processes and procedures throughout hospital stay
- Scope of duties, with physician oversight, which may include but not limited to first assist with surgical procedures, trauma coverage, clinic coverage & code team leader
- Liaison between the Director of Grady APPs & the Chiefs of Service
 
Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Nurse. OR Master's Degree as a Physician Assistant by the National Board of Medical Examiners, or, the Academy of Physician's Assistants
  • Two (2) or more years of experience as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or two (2) years serving as a Physician Assistant.
  • Current Georgia License as a Registered Professional Nurse is required for an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
  • Current Georgia Authorization/Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse is required.
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, or Physician's Assistant, specializing in critical care services for in-patient setting.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced
