Job Summary: 

The Beacon Clinical Pharmacist Specialist is an experienced Hematology/Oncology clinician and is the clinical content expert for Beacon-related initiatives. He/she will collaborate with the multidisciplinary oncology care teams and other end users to develop, build, validate, and maintain treatment plans in Epic Beacon based on new and emerging data, research protocols and standard of care. In addition, the Beacon Clinical Pharmacist Specialist will work closely with other Epic application teams (ex. Willow, Clin Doc, Beaker) to provide support for clinical operations as well as participate in projects to enhance workflow/procedures related to hematology/oncology patient care. The Specialist may make updates to treatment plans based on formulary/protocol updates and workflows. Lastly, the Specialist will obtain and maintain in-depth knowledge of the application functionality and acquire knowledge of the clinical/business workflows to be implemented within the system.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited school of Pharmacy.
  • Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY-1 and PGY-2 residency in Oncology.  
  • Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties Oncology Board Certification (BCOP) or must be obtained within one year of employment.
  • Licensed as a pharmacist in the state of Georgia, or eligible for licensure with 120 days through reciprocity or exam.
  • Willingness to obtain and/or maintain EPIC Willow and Beacon application certification.
  • At least five years of clinical hematology/oncology pharmacy experience to ensure a meaningful understanding of all aspects of oncology treatment and patient care including: chemotherapy/biotherapy, oral anticancer treatment, radiation, surgery, treatment monitoring, transitions of care and financial services. A PGY2 residency in oncology is counted as one year towards the five-year requirement.
  • At least five years of EPIC Beacon end-user experience.
  • Must be able to handle multiple assignments, work flexible hours, and communicate with technical personnel and end users in a positive manner.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proven track record of critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Clinical experience with research protocol and patients.
  • Experience working with other EPIC application teams (Clin Doc, Beaker).
