SUMMARY

The Charge Analyst is a key member of the Perioperative Business Operations team, responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely, and complete capture of charges for surgical and procedural services. This role performs concurrent and retrospective reviews of patient accounts by validating clinical documentation, supply usage, and system entries to ensure compliance with charge capture guidelines. The ideal candidate will bring a strong analytical background, an understanding of perioperative workflows, and the ability to partner with clinicians, coders, and revenue cycle teams to optimize charge reconciliation practices. This individual will also generate reports, identify trends, and support initiatives that improve financial performance, data accuracy, and process efficiency across the perioperative service line.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Health Administration, Business, or a related healthcare field is required.
  • Experience working in perioperative services (Operating Room, Pre-Op/PACU, Endoscopy, Sterile Processing, etc.) is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in charge capture, charge reconciliation, revenue integrity, or related clinical operations.
  • Working knowledge of CPT, revenue codes, documentation requirements, and charging guidelines in a procedural or surgical setting.
  • Previous clinical or allied health background is a plus but not required.
  • Experience running and analyzing data reports; strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Epic and other relevant systems.
  • Detail-oriented with strong critical thinking, documentation review, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate across clinical and financial departments.
