Job Summary
The Director of Technology Innovation is responsible for setting an innovation strategy and managing, governing, and executing a pipeline of innovation projects governed by Grady’s senior leadership team. The role is responsible for the managing the portfolio of innovation projects and the people, process and technology necessary to support the ongoing projects. This role will build and manage the staff in the innovation department. Collaborates with internal teams and provides training resources to promote a culture of innovation that encourages and supports experimentation and rewards new ideas and ways of thinking. Seeks out new opportunities with partners or alliances that support innovation efforts. Both leads and supports the development and execution of projects requiring cross-functional teams. Success for this role is measured in clinical and business outcomes and requires maintaining strong relationships with business executives, clinical leaders, and the IT organization.
Job Responsibilities
Develop, prioritize, and govern an innovation pipeline sourced from all levels of the organization and external parties such as universities, venture capital, accelerators, and vendors
Proactively assess emerging trends and technologies as well as potential disruptions to the business for inclusion in the innovation pipeline.
Manage the governance and prioritization of innovation projects with senior leaders
Maintain strong collaborative relationships with clinicians, business leaders, and the IT organization necessary to successfully execute projects
Define the infrastructure necessary to support innovation projects, such as software, cloud compute, facilities, etc and collaborate with existing leaders to manage the infrastructure.
Define, measure and report key results that represent progress against innovation goals
May own and lead development teams and projects directly.
Lead, coach, and develop the innovation team and manage consultant relationships and contracts for innovation projects
Maintain a deep understanding of the underlying data models, data analysis concepts, and the ability to develop solutions to support/enhance business decisions through reporting.

A bachelor’s degree in business administration, health administration, public health, computer science, or related field

Experience
Required:
Seven or more years of business experience, ideally in business management, technology management or marketing, ideally with some independent P&L or budget responsibilities.
Three or more years of progressive leadership experience in leading cross-functional teams and enterprise wide programs, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts.
Preferred
Five years of experience in the healthcare provider or hospital setting, preferably with experience at essential or safety net hospitals
Familiar with the innovation landscape including deep relationships with leading technology companies, trend forecasts, and venture capital firms/start-ups.
Experience in innovating business models and developing new channels, leading disruptions or business transformation.
Strategy and management consulting experience desirable.
Familiarity with mergers and acquisitions, angel investing and equity partnerships a plus.
Skills/Certs/License
Deep understanding of the innovation landscape, this includes trend forecasts, emerging technologies, culture shifts and new idea generation from the latest techniques to foster ideation to the latest/greatest ideas.
Deep understanding of the healthcare industry in a hospital and clinic setting
Extensive knowledge of leadership styles, product development, business strategy, innovation practices and trend watching.
Strong business acumen, nuanced understanding of leadership styles and dynamics, and knowledge of the healthcare provider and hospital operations, especially large essential hospitals.
Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking and consulting skills.
Strong influence and negotiation skills.
Understanding of technology marketplace and partnership deals.
Ability to effectively drive people, process and disruptive change in a dynamic and complex operating environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain new concepts and technologies to business leaders, and business concepts to technologists.
