The NSQIP Performance Improvement Specialist is responsible for program development and performance improvement of identified opportunities within the surgical services. Working with Grady surgeons, the Performance Improvement RN analyzes abstracted data and recommends areas that will improve surgical outcomes.  The position manages the abstraction, analysis, and submission of identified data to the ACS NSQIP organization.  The position will also serve as the leader for performance improvement projects and involves various stakeholders in the successful implementation of surgical programs.  The Performance Improvement RN presents analyzed data to various committees throughout the organization and serves as the liaison to the Georgia Consortium for Surgical Quality Improvement.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required

  • Three (3) years job related experience including one (1) year surgical related is required.

  • Demonstrated performance improvement management experience required.

  • Experience leading teams in the performance improvement process is required

  • Medical records/surgical record abstraction process is preferred

  • Current Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia is required

  • The American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP) Surgical Clinical Reviewers (SCR) Certification Program or completion within six (6) months of hire required.

  • Basic understanding of Surgical Quality concepts and the basic understanding of Performance Improvement concepts required  

  • Knowledge of data analysis and benchmark comparison required.

  • MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required.

  • Quality Green Belt, Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, or related certification preferred.
