SUMMARY
This position provides nutritional consultation to cancer patients across the continuum of the cancer experience including primary prevention, cancer treatment, secondary prevention, cancer recurrence and palliative care
Monitors and assesses the nutritional status of patients as it relates to disease state including patients on enteral and parenteral nutrition. Counsels and instructs patients according to prescribed diet; must be able to adapt standard diets to individual physical, cultural and socioeconomic conditions and religious preferences. Assists with programs such as support groups, cooking demonstration and well as telephonic follow-up with patients as needed. Documents follow-up in EMR and works with multi-disciplinary team to support the needs of the population served. Keeps record of number of patients served and assists with meeting programmatic objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from an accredited institution
- Registered Dietitian License in the state of Georgia
Skills/Cert/License
Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
-Licensed by Georgia's State Board of Licensed Dietitians Commission on Dietetic Registration.
-Must possess knowledge of growth and development of the adolescent and geriatric population.
-Board Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition (CSO) within first 2 years.
Experience
Preferred: One year of outpatient and /or patient education experience-strongly preferred.
