SUMMARY 
The Communication Controller is responsible for fielding all EMS radio and cell phone traffic for the ED, and sends all incoming EMS traffic desiring medical direction to the appropriate ED zone radio, specifying that the specific resident or attending respond.  The coordinator is responsible for the notification to the Emergency Department staff regarding inbound patients, and utilizes specific templates to communicate reports to ensure patient safety and adequate response. Additionally, the controller will be familiar with the criteria that the emergency department utilizes to activate stroke and trauma alerts, and will initiate/document the pre-activation and activation in the medical record.


QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Paramedic with three years EMS experience
  • Previous dispatcher or communication center experience preferred
  • Current American Heart Association-Healthcare Provider card for Basic Life Support & ACLS
