JOB SUMMARY:
As a Registered Nurse in the Float Department, you’ll be a versatile clinical expert providing age-appropriate, culturally responsive care across Grady’s health system. You’ll guide patients and families through treatments, ensure continuity of care, and promote safe and healthy practices. Floating to various specialized units, from Acute Care and Orthopedics to ICU and Oncology, you’ll bring your expertise to diverse patient needs and environments, addressing staff shortages across different areas of the hospital. This role requires flexibility and agility, as you’ll be adapting to the unique demands of each unit you serve.
In this dynamic role, you’ll masterfully use the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to achieve exceptional patient outcomes. Beyond direct care, you’ll be a patient advocate, a skilled communicator, and a leader in performance improvement, collaborating with healthcare teams and bringing your expertise to every unit you serve.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Active Georgia RN license required.
· Must be able to work across Med/Surg, Orthopedics, Oncology, Telemetry, ICU, and more, based on your credentials.
· Associate Degree in Nursing required, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
· Med-Surgical Units: 1+ years of experience, ICU & Stepdown Units: 2+ years of experience.
· Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required for ICU and Stepdown Units, Med-Surgical.
· ACLS Certification required for: All Critical Care, Emergency Care Center (ECC), GI/Cath Laboratory, Labor & Delivery, All Intermediate Care units, Post-Acute Care Unit (PACU).
· PALS required for the ED/ECC.
· NIHSS required for Neuroscience Units.
· NIHSS required for 4A Mother Baby unit.
