Position Overview
Step into a critical leadership role in our state-of-the-art Operating Room, where you'll coordinate complex surgical care and lead a team of healthcare professionals. As a Registered Nurse at Grady, you'll work in one of the busiest and most diverse surgical environments in the Southeast, gaining invaluable experience across multiple specialties while making a profound difference in patients' lives.
Your expertise in perioperative nursing will be essential as you navigate high-acuity cases, collaborate with renowned surgeons, and ensure the highest standards of patient safety and care quality.
What You'll Do
Clinical Excellence:
- Utilize the nursing process to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care throughout the surgical experience—from assessment and planning to implementation and evaluation
- Provide age-appropriate, culturally sensitive care that respects the diverse backgrounds of our patient population
- Maintain a vigilant focus on patient safety and sterile technique in the OR environment
- Educate patients and families about procedures, recovery, and healthy practices
Leadership & Collaboration:
- Coordinate care across the surgical team, ensuring seamless communication among surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and support staff
- Serve as a patient advocate, ensuring their needs and concerns are addressed throughout the surgical journey
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance OR efficiency and patient outcomes
- Mentor team members and contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment
Professional Practice:
- Manage complex information and utilize advanced technology to support surgical procedures
- Exercise critical thinking and clinical judgment in fast-paced, high-pressure situations
- Delegate appropriately and resolve conflicts to maintain optimal team function
- Maintain continuity of care from pre-op through post-op phases
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) minimum
- Current Georgia Registered Nurse license
- One (1) or more years of experience as a Registered Nurse
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Strongly Preferred:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Previous Operating Room or perioperative nursing experience
