Job Description: Vice President of Operations - Grady Health System

Overview: Grady Health System, a leading healthcare provider in Atlanta, Georgia, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Vice President of Operations to oversee and enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of our hospital operations. This pivotal role requires a strategic leader who can drive operational improvements while maintaining a focus on efficiencies in supporting patient care and operational excellence. This leader will have oversight of operational and support departments; Dietary, Transport, Safety and Security, Continuous Improvement and Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Management:
    • Develop and manage the assigned divisions’ annual operating budget in collaboration with finance and executive leadership.
    • Implement cost-effective strategies to optimize financial performance while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Monitor financial metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement in productivity, service delivery and operational cost savings.
  2. Clinical Operations:
    • Lead initiatives to enhance service delivery, patient safety, and care delivery processes.
    • Collaborate with medical and nursing leadership to streamline operational workflows and improve patient service outcomes.
    • Implement evidence-based practices and clinical protocols to standardize efficiencies of operations and minimize variability.
  3. Operational Efficiency:
    • Evaluate and redesign operational processes to improve safety, efficiency and productivity across assigned departments and in system divisions.
    • Utilize data analytics and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence throughout the system.
    • Foster a culture of innovation and teamwork to achieve organizational goals, reduce wait and turn times and optimize strategic use of resources.
    • Lead workforce development initiatives to redesign the workforce of tomorrow in an effort to attract, retain and engage top talent.
  4. Leadership and Collaboration:
    • Provide strategic direction and guidance to departmental managers and operational teams.
    • Foster a collaborative environment that promotes open communication, teamwork, and professional growth.
    • Partner with senior leadership to develop and execute strategic initiatives aligned with organizational priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in hospital operations, with a focus on operational management and support department efficiency.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, safety practices and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Proven track record of achieving operational excellence and driving organizational change.
